This lovely Checkerboard Afghan was designed by Christine Grazioso-Moody for her book, Filet Crochet Afghans in a Day published by Annie’s Attic in 2004. Unlike the large picture filet projects you normally see in crochet design, this project has a much easier repeat. It’s a great beginner project for filet!
If you’ve never worked in filet crochet before, I have a tutorial on my website to help out. Click here for a beginner tutorial.
Filet crochet is really very easy. Most designs will consist solely of double crochets and chain-1 or chain-2 spaces. You really can’t get any easier than that so definitely don’t be intimidated. What’s the worst that can happen? 😉
