This weekend, I had several people ask me about the Spider Web Stitch Pattern. I took it as serendipity to be able to find it so quickly while browsing for today’s crochet beauty.
The Earthy Glow Tunic Vest was designed by Zena Low and was originally published in the book “Jackets, Wraps & More” published by House of White Birches (currently owned by Annie’s).
This vest is made in a size 3 light worsted to make it a lighter weight and not too bulky and you’ll find sizes small through 3X in the instructions.
The actual construction with this one is wonderful. It starts at the bottom for the entire circumference. Once you get up to the armholes, you work the front, skip some stitches, work the back, skip some stitches and then work the opposite front. There is almost no seaming at all because it’s all worked in one piece. Seaming the shoulders is all the seaming you’ll find.
Now, here’s the fun part. Because this is worked in one piece and you start at the bottom, you can make a throw with the same pattern. Follow the instructions for small to start a 36-inch baby blanket or, follow the instructions for a 1X to start a 52-inch adult throw. You just start and, instead of splitting for the armholes, you simply continue until you reach the length you want. How great is that?!
