The website, Look What I Made, is a beautiful color treat for your eyes. Dedri’s color choices are amazing and her stitching is always positively gorgeous.
Many of you know Dedri from her work with Sophie’s Garden and Sophie’s Universe. The introduction of Sophie was the first time that I really saw the tremendous popularity of “squaring up” circles, specifically the currently trendy term of mandalas.
Sophie heralded an entire year (or more) of squaring off of circles all across the internet. It’s one of those things that is exclusive to the internet and goes viral as the trend grows and grows. It can be fascinating to watch what the internet can do for crochet design. So many things are difficult to put into a nice little traditional publishing box but, once you open up the internet to photo tutorials, video tutorials and even extra instruction, there are no longer any holds barred.
Today, though, let’s talk about this outstanding project. There is so much to love here. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite element.
Naturally, Dedri’s stitching is pure perfection. She takes obvious care and pride in her work when she shares it with us. Her color choices are superb.
There is so much detail in this 12″ block. Look at these ingenious outer diamonds. This is actually what drew me to this square in the first place. So clever!
I rather like the center of this square by itself, so I wanted to see how it would look as an all-over repeat. Let me do a little photoshopping magic…. (I hope Dedri doesn’t mind. UPDATE: Dedri just got back to me and she loves this too!)
Oh, yes! I love that too! This is what I love so much about crochet and especially about fantastic crochet design from a master like Dedri. Even the individual elements stand up on their own.
