Jen Tyler of Hooks N Tales has designed this incredible square called Moonlight Owl. She indicates that it’s a skill level of “enthusiastic and crazy: CROCHET crazy!” I’ve taken a good look at the pattern and Jen’s absolutely correct in her skill level assessment. 🙂
Even with this skill level, you’ll be able to handle this square because she’s provided extensive photo tutorials for each round. There are 11 full pages of instruction. Just take it one round at a time and you’ll be fine.
Jen starts off with a “mandala” style circle and then squares it off. You could take this block and make lots of different projects. It would be outstanding as a block pattern of a structured, lined handbag. You could also use it as the base of a duffel or slouchy bag, stopping before squaring it off. If you want to make a blanket, you can use it as an all-over square afghan, seaming each square together. If you prefer join-as-you-go, omit the last round to leave the last round as chain loops, perfect for this type of joining.
Whatever you decide to do with this block, you are sure to have a gorgeous project.
