Free Crochet Pattern: Outback Shawl

Outback is a beautiful new design by Kaylie Dawn. It starts at a point and then works its way up to as wide and as long as you would like. This isn’t your typical triangle shawl. It’s more of a long triangle; a Scalene Triangle, for those who love math.

Kaylie has specifically designed this project so that you can use any weight of yarn you like. Simply choose the hook size that gives you a fabric you like. Kaylie has recommended the currently-popular long color striping yarns.

I’ve downloaded the file and there are two different versions provided: one in single crochet and one in half double crochet. Take your pick and see which one you prefer.

Some yarns I would recommend trying:

  • Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable
  • Caron Cakes
  • Premier Sweet Roll
  • Crystal Palace Mini Moochi
  • Knit Picks Chroma
  • Universal Yarn Classic Shades
  • Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball
  • Wisdom Yarns Poem and
  • of course, lots of different yarns from Noro.

I know there are lots more, but these are all I could remember off the top of my head. Try browsing around Annie’s Crafts HERE. I believe they carry several of these.
