With a website like Drops Design, you could probably spend all day looking at all the amazing patterns available. This one caught my eye immediately this morning. Not only did the color grab my attention right away but the “cascading front” designs always intrigue me.
Taking a look at the schematic for this design, it’s just a rectangle with holes for the sleeves. That’s what I find so intriguing about it. Whereas I see so many people loving the circular vest style, I have loved this style much better because it has more coverage in the front.
Garn Studio is a well-established yarn company and they literally have hundreds of patterns on their website. I want to point out, though, that their company is not US-based so their patterns aren’t written the way you would normally find patterns written in the US. There isn’t as much detail and you’ll need to give it more concentration.
This pattern is a good starting point for learning how to understand Drops Design patterns with there being no shaping in the body of the garment. If you absolutely can’t get past the block in your mind about a perceived inability to make crochet garments, take a look at the schematic. It’s just a small lap throw with two holes for the arms. You can do it! 🙂
