Make It Crochet | Your Daily Dose of Crochet Beauty | Free Crochet Pattern: Turquoise Mandala Hat

Your favorite mandala pattern can be turned into a terrific hat!

I’m sure that you’ve noticed that mandala patterns have been growing in numbers on the internet by leaps and bounds. With so many of them, I decided to sit down and create my own because they looked so fun.

It took me several days, but I finally came up with this one, which I absolutely love.

Make It Crochet | Your Daily Dose of Crochet Beauty | Free Crochet Pattern: Turquoise Mandala Doily

I used size 5 mercerized cotton because I have it handy on cones in lots of different colors. I’m still not finished with it. I had to stop so that I could figure out how I wanted to do the remaining rounds. I hope to continue working on it again soon. Until then, the doily itself up to this point is a written pattern and you can find it on my website below.

After I wrote the pattern for the doily, I had many requests from people about whether the pattern would work for an afghan. Although I haven’t had a chance to test it completely, I could tell with just a few rounds, that there would need to be alterations to the pattern due to the bulky weight of it. While I was testing it out with a larger-than-thread yarn, I discovered that my mandala could be turned into this fabulous hat!

I’m not really a hat person. I don’t wear hats very often. Even when I lived in Chicago for nearly 20 years, hats were not my thing. I have to admit, though, I am impatiently awaiting some cold weather just so I can wear this Mandala Hat! It’s made in a lightweight fingering yarn, so I don’t think I’ll have to wait much longer.

You can pick up your free pattern for the Mandala Hat from CrochetKim HERE.

If you would like the doily instructions, they are separated into two parts here: Part 1 and Part 2.

Enjoy!
