I have been working in this business for a really long time. It’s not often that I find something that I’ve never seen before, but I found it for you today!
The Woven Stitch! How interesting. This is a stitch that starts in one stitch and it’s almost like a double crochet and slip stitch combined. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully. You could easily miss the subtle difference. Here are the instructions for the first half of the stitch. Note the part that I have underlined. I think the only time I’ve ever done anything similar to this was in Tunisian crochet.
You will, of course, need to see the pattern so that you can see the second part of this stitch, but I wanted to be certain to call it to your attention that you need to pay attention. 🙂
You will find that these mittens are constructed in rectangles to take advantage of the vertical striping and built-in stretchy ribbing that you wouldn’t get with a horizontal construction. I love that Brittany provides a video with a step-by-step tutorial on construction. That could have been the most difficult part of this project, but now this pattern will be much easier for everyone to tackle.
