Free Crochet Patterns: Buffalo Plaid Mittens

One of the most fascinating lines of crochet I’ve seen in the last couple of years is the Plaid Technique from Bethany Dearden of Whistle & Ivy. Buffalo Plaid has been super popular since last winter and it’s just so classic. The colors are fantastic.

Don’t be afraid of this technique. Bethany has a complete video series for you and, if you haven’t checked out her site lately, she’s even got a video on a new joining technique to make your joining seam less noticeable. Be sure to check that out.

You’ll see that the plaid sections are made only in easy double crochet with some color changes. You don’t need to learn any special stitches! You’ll simply be changing colors where Bethany has indicated in the pattern and you’ll have these handsome mittens, perfect for men or women.
