My Crochet Pattern Notes
For years, I’ve wanted a blanket that looked like real Entrelac, except with a crochet hook. True Knit Entrelac has the look of woven bands of stockinette knitting. It’s beautlful but WAY beyond my knitting skill.
True Entrelac is made up of rectangles and triangles, but they’re meant to be presented in different directions, having the look of overlapping. I knew it would be tough to figure it out and even tougher to communicate in writing.
With all the new technology available, it’s time to jump in and get this pattern in the world. Use the written instructions, with videos for any backup of tricky bits.
I’ve been working on this for years and I can’t wait to see your projects!
The pattern is separated into four separate parts. All parts will be available in full by the end of October. If you prefer something more convenient, there will also be a PDF available with all four parts, as they become available.
Before you even get started, you need to understand that this isn’t something that’s going to be traditional. Keep in mind that there’s a reason why regular Tunisian entrelac doesn’t look like real entrelac. It turns out that trying to come up with a way to get real entrelac had me doing some hand acrobats. It’s taken me a long tme to come up with this because it’s not copied from anywhere else.

Yarn
Red Heart “Super Saver Bitty Stripes”, 100% acrylic, size 4 weight, 515 yds/471m per 10 oz/283g per skein: 4 skeins (approx 1800 yds used) color Crayon Box.
Red Heart “Super Saver”, 100% acrylic, size 4 weight, 364 yds/333m per 7 oz/198g per skein: 1 skein (approx 300 yds used ) color Carrot.

“Super Saver Bitty Stripes” is classified as an aran weight (size 4) yarn and is currently available in 29 shades.
Available at the Red Heart Store on Amazon (aff link).
Other Materials
Suggested Crochet Hook Size L-11 (8mm) or hook needed to meet gauge.
Suggested Crochet Hook Size K-6 1/2 (6.5mm) for trim.
Yarn Needle for weaving ends.
Gauge
Measured diagonally, each rectangle is about 3″. Or about 2″ when measured along a side edge. It’s nearly impossible to get a very clear gauge measurement.
Special Stitches
Tunisian Knit Stitch (tks): Insert hook, from front of work to back of work, between the front and back vertical bars of the same stitch, yarn over, pull loop through, keeping loop on hook. Right-Handed Video | Left-Handed Video.
Last Stitch of a Row: The last stitch of each row is worked into the outer 2 vertical bars. It’s basically a knit stitch with an extra loop on the outside of the insertion stitch. You don’t want to work under only one vertical bar since it will cause the loop to stretch too much. Working under both loops makes a nice, clean, sturdy edge. Right-Handed Video | Left-Handed Video.
Close Normally: Chain 1, [yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook] across.
Project Video: Right-Handed Video | Left-Handed Video
Other Abbreviations
This crochet pattern is written in US crochet terminology.
ch=chain; dc=double crochet; lp(s)=loop(s); rep=repeat; sk=skip; st(s)-stitch(es); yo=yarn over.
All numbers after the colon at the end of an instruction are stitch counts. Use the stitch count to check your work.

Stitch Multiple
The stitch multiple is any multiple of 7, then add 2.
I know that I make a lot of small throw and baby blanket sized projects. If I tried to make full size afghans, it would just take too long. They’re my favorite so I want to continue making them, but because of time, I need to make smaller sizes.
Since many people will want to make a different size, I try to include the stitch multiple. If you see a blanket here at Make It Crochet that doesn’t have the stitch multiple, please let me know so that I can include it.
Posting Schedule
This pattern is the equivalent of four separate patterns so I’m releasing it in four parts. It is way too much information to put on one page.
Each part will be released by the dates below and linked here.
Entrelac Faux Knit Throw Part 1 – released
Entrelac Faux Knit Throw Part 2 – released
Entrelac Faux Knit Throw Part 3 – released
Entrelac Faux Knit Throw Part 4 – release by October 23
If you purchase the PDF at the Ravelry link above, it will be 30% off through the end of October. The PDF will be updated on the additional release dates. For example, if you purchase the PDF before October 9, it will only include the first part, but after part 2 release, the PDF will be updated with the new information. Beginning in November, the PDF will be full price.
Since this is a multi-part pattern, it’s not eligible for the email newsletter signup.
