My Crochet Pattern Notes
This scarf is made from long edge to long edge so there’s a long starting chain. The first row is single crochet so, if you prefer, a foundation single crochet could be used instead.
The colorwork is made by using only one color on a row at a time. There is no changing of colors in the middle of the rows.

Special Stitches
Long Single Crochet (Lsc): Insert hook in indicated row below, yarn over, pull loop through, then pull loop up to the height of the current row, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook.
A Long Single Crochet (Lsc) can also be called a “Spike Stitch”. It’s usually used to make a dip of color down further into the other rows.
In this pattern, the placement is in the tops of the single crochet that had been skipped three rows below. When you insert your hook and pull the loop through, you will enclose the two chain-2 spaces that are one and two rows below.
Other Abbreviations
This mens scarf pattern is written in US crochet terminology.
ch=chain; dc=double crochet; hdc=half double crochet; rep=repeat; sc=single crochet; sk=skip; st(s)=stitch(es); sp(s)=space(s); tr=treble crochet.
All numbers after the colon at the end of an instruction are stitch counts. Use the stitch count to check your work.
Gauge
Each stitch repeat of 12 stitches is almost 4″ wide. Due to its wavy nature, a row gauge isn’t feasible but, if you measure along a side edge, 10 rows reaches about 4″ high.
Stitch Repeat
If you need to change the size of the project, the stitch repeat is any multiple of 12, plus 11, for the starting chain. You can continue to make it any height you want, ending with a row 4 of the 8-row stitch pattern.
