Instructions
- Chain and work a foundation row.
- Work row 2 (repeat established)
- Work the same row 2 until 183 rows have been completed.
- Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Stylecraft “Life DK Vintage Look”, 75% acrylic/25% wool, 326 yds/298m per 3.5 oz/100g per skein: 490 yards used total.
Stylecraft Life DK Vintage Look isn’t currently available, although I’ve seen it on secondary sites. The Stylecraft Life DK line is still available but there are so many substitutions you can use.
Yarn Substitution
I’ve used DK weight yarn (size 3) because I love this size. There’s a lot of yardage on a 100g skein. You could use any yarn you like, using the hook size you prefer. You may need to make changes to the number of stitches and the amount of yarn required.
Use any DK weight yarn you like and there are some gorgeous samples which would work great for you. James C Brett Marble DK looks like an almost exact match. Have a look at: Lion Brand Moroccan Nights Yarn (this is a little heavier and may require a looser tension with adjusting the initial chain), Rico Creative Chic-Unique, James C Brett Aurora,

Abbreviations
This Knit Look Beginner Crochet Scarf pattern is written in US crochet terminology.
ch=chain; rep=repeat; sc=single crochet; sk=skip; sp(s)=space(s).
All numbers after the colon at the end of an instruction are stitch counts. Use the stitch count to check your work.
Gauge
22 stitches for 12 rows measures approximately 4×4″. Use the stitch multiple to change the width. Gauge isn’t critical since you can use any weight yarn, changing the hook size for your preferred tension.
Stitch Multiple
To change the width, make your initial chain any multiple of 3, then add 3.
I love the Multiple of 3. In order to find out if any number is a multiple of 3, add all the digits together and, if the end result is a multiple of 3, then the full number is a multiple of 3.
Examples: 42 is 4+2=6. 6 is a multiple of 3 so 42 is too. 252 is 2+5+2=9. 9 is a multiple of 3 so 252 is too.
Free Crochet Pattern Instructions
Row 1: Ch 42, sk 2 ch, *[sc, ch 2, sc] in next ch, sk 2 ch, rep from * to last ch, [sc, ch 2, sc] in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, [sc, ch 2, sc] in each ch-2 sp across, turn: 14 ch-2 sps.
Rows 3-183: Rep row 2 (or until length desired). Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in all ends securely.

I’m concerned about the last row not matching the first row. Hope that makes sense.
I understand. If this bothers you, it will be a very short bit. You could probably square off the top with a repeat of 2 single crochet in the “valley” and one slip stitch at each point. I’ve never tried it so you may need to play around with it a little to get your perfect line. I hope that helps!
Love this easy to make the single I the Valley one I the peak does work for a straight edge.
Is there a way to make the the cluster or ripple on both ends ?
I think the easiest way to make a straight edge would be to work a border around it once complete. I hope that helps!
What works best to make the ends look similar is – after the last row, turn, chain 1 then do a single crochet in the peak, chain 1, and repeat in the next peak – that is single crochet in next peak, and then a chain stitch- all the way across. It looks very similar to the first row.

I’m a beginner and I am a bit confused by this “ Row 2: Ch 1, [sc, ch 2, sc] in each ch-2 sp across, turn: 14 ch-2 sps.” specifically the “turn: 14 ch- 2 sps.” I interpret this as chaining 14 stitches in EACH chain 2 space? Please advice

It makes a beautiful baby blanket. My grandmother wanted me to show her a stitch pattern when I was expecting Christian 20 years ago and this worked out great for her.

Very easy and very interesting effect with the stitches. How to smooth out the edges , is my question. I used 3 ply and E hook. Taking me way more time!
